Power Outage

Texas Storms can blow in at the drop of a pin. They came with a vengeance yesterday evening. Hailey and I had just arrived home from school and going through some items for a garage sale this weekend. We were sitting in the kitchen floor when a branch hit the window. My first reaction was that boots was being typical Boots. Wrong. Dead Wrong. The wind was blowing so hard, small funnels were coming out of the clouds and the dogs were hysterical. I love storms, I love taking pictures of storms. This one terrified me. I wouldn't put Hailey down, the dogs came in and we were in the hallway (our most central part of the house and it is rather large and wide).

You could hear the wind whipping around the trees, the plastic chairs flying and the rain pounding on the roof. The most intense part only lasted 20 or so minutes but the after rain lingered for about an hour. We were without power for 4 hours. I kept praying that it would come back on because we were in the middle of stuff and I had wanted to finish it. Finally at 8:30 after a trip to Wendy's, the $1 Store and the car wash, we gave up. Off to Mia's house we went. Hailey was SO HYPED UP that she was bouncing off the walls. At 9:15, she wanted blueberries, strawberries and ranch to dip it in. ICK! By 10:15, she was begging Auntie Collins for some Taco Bell. Finally, at 10:30 she was out and slept until 8. I have no idea where he store all the food she had yesterday.

This morning, we had chicken minis for breakfast since we were running really late. Hailey also took a Gerber fruit bar to school with her and Miss Mandy was handing out French Toast. That belly will be full again. She took her duck that Jason Maloy sent to the hospital to show Eli. She was so proud. I'm setting up interviews for this craziness of a job, looking at apartments (I think we have decided on what we are going to do and it is furnished!!) and it stays cool all day.

Megan's little boy Cohen, went in for open heart surgery this morning so PLEASE SAY A PRAYER. On her blog, she said it could take 6 hours. Those of you who are Mother's could only imagine the worries in those 6 hours. Here is her blog.

Spring storms are so scary to me. That is a really cool picture though. Just the thought of a tornado terrifies me.

I just wanted to say that you sound like such an easy going mom. I usually flip out if Boyd is not in bed by 7:30. I wish I was more relaxed like you. I just have this weird thing in my head about bedtime, and it really stresses me out to be on such a tight schedule with Boyd at night. I need to be more like you in that area! :))

I am laid back on some things and others not so much. I try my hardest to get Hailey in bed by 8 but last night, there was just no way. We were waiting on the power to come back on. Children do SO MUCH better being on a schedule, having a bed time, etc. The entire first year of her life, I tried so hard to put her on schedule. Hailey also sleeps in a toddler bed in MY room so that is another hard aspect. It's a large room so she can sleep in her bed and I can watch tv on low. I can't wait for the moment where she has her own room again and yes, she will have a strict bedtime. Traveling also scerws it up and not all our our family members respect bedtimes.
