Mr Weather Man

Oh Mr Weather Man you said we were due for more snow yesterday but it never arrived. The skies were grey and looked as if it could begin dumping at anytime. Maybe it was a blessing since we had a wine dinner to attend last night.

I went to the Carino's wine dinner last night with Brooke, Kelli, Leslie, Cindy, Brandy, Todd and my dad. We were under the impression that they kept your group together because they called numerous time asking how many in our group. When we arrived, we found this to be very different. Our group was completely spread out. It wasn't the end of the world but when you attend something as a group, planning to visit all evening, it kind of puts a damper on things. We made do and waited for the first glass of wine to be poured. The first one was overly buttery, the second was nice and crisp, the third was a great Shiraz and the last was a pink champagne. I didn't drink much of the first, enjoyed a glass of the second and third and gave away the fourth. The dinner was slow but with great flavor. A total of 50 people showed up so it is hard to cook, prepare and serve all 50 at the same time. I was impressed with the food and the effort. The only downfall was that heavy cream was in all dishes. I know it is a cold winter month but come on, heavy cream in all dishes. There was a line in the ladies room all night with people having stomach cramps. Not an ideal situation! Over all, the wine dinner was nice and I'm glad I went.
I've been working hard on Kelli's shower on Saturday and her cook book. Well, I really wouldn't call it a cook book but rather a Cook Box. It's not in a big book. She'll love it! She shower will be nice, elegant and simple. She doesn't like a lot of frilly stuff so we're keeping it crisp, white and tiffany blue. I can't wait to see the cake and the cupcakes! Once again, Jeremy at the Bakerman is doing them. He is simply the best.
Tomorrow, we're heading to Sulphur Springs to meet Chris and to visit Grandma Christine. We haven't seen her since Christmas so it will be a nice trip. Lynn is also driving over from Irving. Chris will them get to come back to Texarkana until Saturday morning so we'll have a couple days together.
That is about all going on in our little world. Collins is going to Batesville tomorrow and we are EXTREMELY jealous!

Your wine dinner sounds like fun! I love a good sweet wine, and champagne.
