No, I am not calling you a name but rather talking about a book. Have you read it? It was mentioned to me recently that I needed to scan through it not because I needed to change my life style (and when I say change, that book is a BIG CHANGE) but because the language is terrible in it. Terrible in a very wildly funny way. I mean seriously, they sold millions of copies of this and I bet because it calls you names through out the entire book. I'm rolling with laughter sentence after sentence.
Here is the website to the book www.skinnybitch.net
Besides being full of laughter, the book does have very valuable information in it. It goes over everything from soda to simple carbs to coffee to what "junk food" you can have. While I won't change my lifestyle (I LOVE LOVE LOVE MEAT) I will add more of the healthy foods in my diet. Like not having donuts or eggs and bacon but having TONS of fruit and soy yogurt or healthy cereal (bye lucky charms!!). I do think if people are having a terrible time loosing weight, or constantly sick you should read this book.
Here are a few things from the book, Skinny Bitch.
"Are you a pill popper? Do you reach for over-the-counter medicine for every sniffle, sneeze, ache and pain? Toughen up. Our bodies, when properly cared for, function as perfect machines. Our brain tells us when something is wrong by given us pain or discomfort. When we pop pills to rid this "dis-ease," we are masking the symptoms without resolving the problems. Every time you take medicine, you interfere with your body's natural ability to heal itself. You are alleviating those intelligent responses that alert you to a problem and sending false signals to your brain. If you have a headache, you might be tire, dehydrated or suffering from a minor food allergy. Most likely, your body is having an adverse reaction to the unhealthy crap you are eating. Taking two aspirin is not the answer. IF your nose is running, your body is trying to rid itself of something through your snot. But you, drama queen, take cold medicine to stop your booger flow. Now you've gone an ^*&ed up everything. Medicine is made of chemicals. Never mind that the FDA gives meds their stamp of approval. They also allow the use of aspartame. Use your own damn brain. Do you think that putting chemicals in your body is good for you? Every medicine comes complete with a list of side effects. That means that taking medicine will make you feel better for the moment, but will ^*&( up something else in your body. Yesh, getting the cramps totally sucks. It's supposed to. Every month you endure cramps (without meds), you are preparing for the physical pain of childbirth. SO suck it up. Stop interfering with Mother Nature. (Obviously, if you are on prescribed medication, you need to consult a physician before discontinuing it.)"
That really puts things into perspective in a funny kind of way. I know pill poppers and yes, I believe it is an addiction. My parents would have beat me if I took an Advil for each headache or a sudafed for each sniffle. We didn't even keep that stuff in the house growing up.
Here is an insert about Aspartame in the book:
"NutraSweet and Equal contain aspartame. When ingested, one of aspartame's ingredients, methyl alcohol, converts into formaldehyde, a deadly neurotoxin. In addition to aspartame, Equal contains the amino acid phenylalanine. Phenylalanine occurs naturally in the brain. But high levels can increase the chance of siezures and lead to depression and schizophrenia. There is no lesser of the two evils. NutraSweet and Equal are both evil. Sweet & Low is no saint either. It is an artificial sweetener that contains saccharin, a coal-tar compound. Stay away. Because we are having so much fun, let's bash the s(^t out of Splenda, one of the newer sweeteners. Splenda is made by chlorinating sugar, changing its molecular structure. The finished product is called sucralose. The makers of this poision tout its lack of calories and claim it is safe for diabetics. The FDS calls sucralose 98 % pure. The other 2 % contains heavy metals, methanol and arsenic. Well, gee, at least it doesn't have calories. So what if it has a little arsenic? Sucralose has been found to cause diarrhea, organ, genetic, immune system and reproductive damage; swelling of the liver and kidneys; and a decrease in fetal body weight. What a splendid product!"
Glad I don't use sweetener in my tea after reading this book! WOW. So see, this book isn't about loosing weight so to speak. It is more about a lifestyle change and being healither. It's worth the read even if just reading for their cold funny sense of humor. They will call you names through out the whole book.
