SHINGLES!!!

Once again, I have come down with the shingles. I personally didn't that was what it really was because the symptoms are less than the first time I had them. Shingles is a viral infection that causes a painful rash. Although shingles can occur anywhere on your body, mine seem to appear on my face in small clusters of blisters. After you've had chickenpox, the virus lies inactive in nerve tissue near your spinal cord and brain. Years later, the virus may reactivate as shingles.
The first symptom I had was tingling and burning on my face. That was the worse part because it was SO SORE. Then a red patch formed on upper cheek below the eye followed by small blisters that look very similar to early chickenpox or fever blisters. It honestly feels much better now that the blisters are present. It's like the virus was screaming within my skin and finally got out. That is why I didn't really think it was the Shingles. The blisters will eventually break, forming tiny little spots that begin to dry and form crusts. The crusting is a sign of healing. The first time it took 2-3 weeks to heal. I'm praying that this round (since I started Valtrex early) will be shorter.
Valtrex, Valtrex, Valtrex why are you so expensive my friend? On Aetna, it ran around $100 for a weeks supply. On our current plan, BCBS of Tx, it was $300 before I applied insurance and $193.76 after. I find it amusing how they decide what is important to pay for. BCBS will drastically cut your pain medicine costs but a strong medicine they won't cut it in half.
I imagine many of you are concerned about Hailey. I phoned her pedi and we should have a plan tomorrow. The worst thing that could happen is that Hailey gets the chicken pox. She hasn't had her vaccine yet so maybe that will be the plan tomorrow. Personally, the chicken pox doesn't bother me. We all had it and survived right? So far she hasn't had any symptoms and didn't catch it when I had it shortly after she was born. I'll let you all know what we decide to do.
Well, I'm watching a movie and she is out like a light. She made it until 7 tonight and is snuggled next to me at dad's house. We walked in and the wind had blown one of the doors open and dropped the temp inside to 60 degrees. It is taking forever to warm up!!!
