This trip to Austin led us down a different path, a much less traveled path. Construction along I-35 is always congested and with it being a Holiday, I decided on a different route. Once arriving in Sulphur Springs, I jumped on HWY 19 (the last exit heading west) and headed south. This drive was full of beautiful houses, lots of land and rolling hills. It had been many years since visiting this area but it brought back many memories. Most of the people take pride in their houses and land in this part of the country except for the occasional junker. Days like today make me thankful I'm from East Texas. You learn a different set for morals and values. You eat off china at all meals, not just Holidays. We didn't have cotillions when I grew up (we had Y-Teens), everything was just expected and we knew how to act. I think the consequences out weighed the benefits of acting up.
Thinking about all this stuff made me realize that Hailey is really enjoying the time spent in Texarkana. She can run forever, play with the dogs, ducks, dig in the dirt and really just be a kid again.
After arriving to Austin, Chris greeted us with a smile. He was VERY excited to see us (ok- Hailey!). We ate Mexican each night (Baby A's-not good, Chuy's & Posado's), visited the Outlet Mall in Round Rock AND San Marcos, had lunch with Loren and Tiffany and spent the day in New Braunfels with Cristin and Tyler. We crammed a lot in the few days we were there but every minute counted. Now, back in Irving the weather is growing cold and the snow/ice is moving in. I woke yesterday morning with a big red spot on my face just below my eye and now it is a cluster of blisters. lovely. Looks like Shingles but hopefully it isn't. I'll visit the Dr in Texarkana tomorrow for more Valtrex. Gotta love the jittery medicine that cures the Shingles and fever blisters! Chris is on his way home from Orlando and we had lunch with Ryan at Bubba's. GREAT fried chicken and owned by the Babe's owners. I still like Babe's much better. After a visit to Toys R Us, we're back at the house waiting on Chris to arrive. He wants to dine out when he arrives so Mark and I will head to pick him up soon.
I'll post a few pictures next....
