After a mad dash all over Texas, Hailey and I arrived back in Texarkana yesterday evening. She was ready to be home and not traveling. We had a FANTASTIC time while gone though!!
Kristen and Kensley flew into DFW on Wednesday morning then we met Holly and Maddox for lunch in Flowermound. I can't remember what the bakery was called but super cute and yummy. AFter lunch, we took the kids to the Tree farm for some pictures and to let them run wild. The wind was blowing, the clouds rolled in and the temps dropped so we headed out. A few stops into different shops, we headed to the Omni in downtown Fort Worth. The whole downtown scene is a little different when you have toddlers present but still a lot of fun! Kristen got us a hotel room at the new Omni which we would highly recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the area. It was great! They gave the girls little backpacks full of toys to help entertain them. We dined at Gloria's, went to Target and ad an early night. Hailey and Kensley were laughing at each other while trying to go to sleep. Hailey was stuffy so she sounded like a pig while drinking and Kensley thought it was hilarious. Well then Hailey thought Kensley was hilarious. Eventually it stopped and we were all asleep for a nights rest.
Thursday was everything I had hoped it to be. We ran a few errands and then went to a little Christmas party at Holly's house. What a great time! We had been missing the girls and Maddox so it was great to see them. We stuffed our faces, had much needed girl time and the kids played for hours. Thanks Holly for having us all over. As all good things come to an end, it was time to hit the road once again. We loaded up for Hillsboro and met Kristen's parents and shopped a little. Hailey and I then traveled onto Austin for a quick visit with Chris. Due to traffic and Hailey ready to be out of the car it was late by the time we arrived so didn't visit much. I think it was nearly 1 am by the time he arrived to his extended stay and we were sound asleep. This trip reminded ourselves why we aren't doing the whole "Hailey in a hotel" thing right now. It had a small kitchen but it wasn't safe or clean place for her.
By 10 on Friday morning, Hailey and I were on the road once again. Mark graduated from Texas A & M so we were headed to College Station. Congratulation Mark, we are so proud of you!!! I should have arranged for a sitter in Austin or Dallas because a graduation is not a place for a toddler. I am mad at myself for even hoping that she would sit still from 1 to 5:30. She doesn't even sit still in her high chair for 15 minutes. BUT.. it was awesome to see Mark and his girl friend Amanda. We left CS for Dallas around 6 to meet Chris who had a meeting up there. It was nearly 9:30 after stopping for Vito's pizza and arriving to Irving. We FINALLY got to visit with Chris. It's crazy how much you can miss a person. Hailey stayed up until 10 or 1030 but she just couldn't hang on anymore. She was so excited to see her daddy but her eyes were hot pink with sleepiness. Chris and I got to visit, watch TV and do is laundry, I think most of our date nights involve laundry now. haha!
We all headed out early on Saturday morning. Chris had to work that afternoon and we were eager for rest. Hailey's cold started coming back, she was teething and had a fever of 100.2. I'm sure the fever was just from the teething and possibly the cold. On our way out of town, we stopped by World Market with dad and Ryan for rugs and wine, BRU for a Peace, Love & Kids stroller and Chuy's for some fat kid food. We couldn't pass up a stop to Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel with being so close. Dad found some really cool things while there. A table for the dining room or middle room, a wall rack desk and a wine rack. I can't wait for him to have everything set up!! Once home, Hailey got to see Uncle John Davis for the first time since July. He was shocked at how much she is a little person now. She has her own personality, her own way of doing things and it very active. The last time he saw her was her birthday party and she wasn't walking around yet and still chunky. Hailey is becoming tall and thin and wearing the cutest clothes that make her look like a little big kid.
I thought we might sleep in today but not so much. I guess 9 is sleeping in for Hailey though. It was okay though, I needed to unpack our bags and do some laundry. We had everything put up, laundry going, room cleaned and swept and playing with Uncle JD by 10:15. Dad started burning the big pile behind his house, Hailey got to place with the dogs and then we headed to Mia's. We pull into her neighborhood and Hailey starts screaming for Bella. She loves that dog!! We had lunch with Mia and Auntie Collins, went to get groceries for her Christmas party and then put all the dishes together. Fruit and cheese tray, veggie tray with dip, crab dip with crackers, chocolate covered strawberries, white trash chex mix, cream cheese dip and Collins made an AWESOME cake. I cleaned the house and Hailey took a 2-3 hr nap. It has been a great family day!!! Now, it's getting close to dinner time but I have been snacking all day. Hailey might just have mac and cheese with chicken and veggies ( Gerber to the rescue).
Over the next few days, we don't have much planned. Hopefully a little rest, I know we'll go see my Uncle Whitty and Aunt Debbie, my grandparents and maybe a few play dates. MIa is off tomorrow so I'm sure we'll make a park day or go for a long walk.
Have a GREAT WEEK!!!
