Chris had to work a MID so he missed the big event. We had the house decorated, candy ready, cake ball pops ready, Hailey dressed, candles burning but weren't too sure what to expect. The 4th of July up here was an experience like no other so I could only guess what Halloween would be like. I bought $40 worth of candy ($2 a bag and they were good size bags) and made 90 cake balls. The plan was to take the cute cake balls to Fish Daddy's but I had to given most out to trick or treaters. We ran out after 1 1/2 hours and headed to see Chris.
To me Halloween is a day for the kids to trick or treat and the adults to play dress up and attend parties or spend it with their kids. It's supposed to be fun, safe and has always been one of my favorite days. I've dreamed of having a child with a birthday close to Halloween since I was a child. Imagine the fun birthday parties!! I do not think it is for adult women (10-15 years older than I) to come around door to door picking out the candy they want. No, they weren't trick or treating for their kids. They were sticking their hands in my candy bowl picking up stuff and putting it back. I'm sure most adults had been drinking but still manners please. One lady blew me away when she demanded a full size snickers (ran out of candy so I used our candy stash at the house) AND a cake ball pop. I told her that she shouldn't be taking the candy away from the children and that I didn't have enough for her to have both. She got angry, mouthed something and walked away. It was all I could do to bite my tounge. Seriously, are you that poor that you can't afford a $2 bag of candy. Oklahoma is different. Never in all the neighborhoods that we have lived in would anyone act like that. Yes, we've had kids let themselves in our house on Halloween (happened this year twice) but they are young and still learning. Adults should know right from wrong.
Halloween afternoon. We spent 3 hours running around looking for tarragon. They needed it fresh (2 C) and we had no luck. So... we went to Target. Hailey looking stylish as ever. I didn't take a picture of my shirt but I was matching in orange and black.

WOW... THAT IS ALL I HAVE TO SAY-- WOW!!
...AND THAT YOU HAVE SUCH A CUTE LITTLE LADY BUG ON YOUR HANDS!
Hailey looks precious in all of the pictures. :)
I am glad you stood up to the adult trick or treaters. That is just nuts. I felt bad even walking to the door with Boyd, but he loved it and I wanted him to experience it, even though he won't remember. However, I can't even imagine actually going out to get candy myself. Seriously, it's pretty sad they can't go buy their own bag. ha. I could go on and on! :)
