Hailey has arrived

Sorry it took me two weeks to update our blog but I've been staying busy with our little angel and trying to recover. Hailey was born on july 21, 2008 at 5:35pm at Baylor Grapevine.

I stopped taking ProCardia on Sunday afternoon and we had been on it for 6 weeks to help prevent going ino pre term labor again. I went to my weekly appointment with my Maternal Fetal Specialist that Monday morning and he didn't like what he saw. The fluid surrounding Hailey had dropped to a dangerous level and she wasn't reacting to the buzzer being placed on her head. Normally it would make the babies move or roll and she did nothing. He sent me to Labor and Delivery and let me know that I would most likely be delivering Hailey on Tuesday unless my fluid began to climb. I arrived around noon, got situated and begged for water or lunch, I wa starving. Nope, couldn't eat or drink until Dr. Gagnon gave me the okay. He came to check me around 2:30, I had started dilating and having contractions so he told me to stay put and took off to the OR. He arrived back at 4 and we discussed our options. He let me know that he didn't want to wait any longer and was going to check the OR schedule. I had blood work done since the Lovenox had only been out of my system an hour at this point. It's a 24 hour shot that I took daily at 3pm. By 4:30, he asked how fast Chris could get to the hospital. The OR was open and wanted me in there as soon as possible. The nurses were helping stall trying to wait for Chris to arrive with Hwy 114 traffic. I went to the bathroom one last and Chris appeared in the hallway with Dr. Gagnon. and I was SO thankful.
During the C Section, I was given a Spinal block and loved it. I am so thankful that I did not have an epidual after being on the Lovenox. That was my biggest feat of the whole procedure. We had Dr. Gagnon, Dr. White, nurses for me, NICU for Hailey, and a few others roaming around the OR. It went so fast and Dr. Gagnon hung hailey over the curtain as soon as he pulled her out. Her lungs were full of fluid so they had to tube her and clear them but once they did she began to cry. It felt like forever waiting to hear that little cry. They swaddled her and handed her to Chris. He carried her around and sat be me. She was beautiful and I could see us both in her. Putting me back to together was the longest part but not painful by any means.
We headed to recovery and Hailey ate like a champ, she must get that from her momma. I had to remain in there for a whike so proud pappa went with hailey to the nursery for her bath.
they kept pumping me full of medicine and I was itching like crazy from the morphine. I started regaining sensation in my legs while in recovery which was fantastic, I don't like the numb feeling. I even spoke to Aunt Tonia in in recovery! I shocked the nurse when she came in and I was on the phone but it was ringing and I was alone.
We went home on Thursday afternoon as one little happy family,
